Lidl launches 'Waste Not' range with food for 20p

Lidl branches have started a Waste Not range to help play their part in a bid to tackle the cost-of-living crisis. PlymouthLive reports one local customer noticing a big selection of food items stamped with 20p stickers.

They picked up an ideal lunch that was "reduced but still fresh", and said they "love a bargain". They added: "Last night I got two packs of sushi and some mashed potato for 60p. Everything in the Waste Not section was 20p."

Online, Lidl's Waste Not page outlines its core aims about creating boxes filled with fruit and vegetables which are still good to use, but would have otherwise been thrown away. You can find a 5kg box for just £1.50 by the checkout areas in Lidl, subject to availability.

Lidl also offers tips for making your food go further on their website, to help families. The initiative comes after Martin Lewis last week advised people on ITV's This Morning on how they can stay warm without turning the heating on.

He included a mention of Aldi's Specialbuy, and suggested buying items like heated USB gloves and electric blankets so people can heat themselves instead of their homes.

Customers have shared praise for Aldi's £35 heated throw with sleeves that people are using instead of turning up their heating. Some said it was "so comfortable" while others said that they "absolutely love it". Some have even said they use it daily.

One five-star review said: "This is brilliant! The sleeves mean you can be completely covered and toasty warm but still pick up a drink, turn the page of your book or whatever. Much better than a normal blanket and so lovely and soft."

The heated throws from Aldi are currently out of stock on the website, but you may be able to find one in your local store. The Manchester Evening News reported they had contacted Aldi about the possibility of restocking the blankets online.
