Lidl launches mochi ice cream range following TikTok trend

This summer, Lidl is launching its own selection of mochi ice cream.

Hailing from Japan, mochi balls soared in popularity in England thanks to social media, and now shoppers can get their fix at the budget supermarket.

The all-new Vitasia Mochi Ice Cream packs cost £2.99, and come in four flavours.

Fans can choose from succulent mango, smooth vanilla, indulgent chocolate and fresh coconut.

The ice cream balls are wrapped in a glutinous rice dumpling for a luscious texture.

The treats will arrive in stores next week, on June 3.

Mochi gained popularity in England back in January, thanks to a Tik Tok trend.

The Little Moons brand of the ice creams went on sale in Tesco, and shoppers couldn't get enough of them.

A TikTok clip video posted a user with the handle @emilyturton21 received more than 400,000 views in four days.

Her clip - simply captioned as 'Banging #fyp #littlemoonsmochi' - has had more than 3,000 comments so far.

One fan replied: "The coconut ones are unreal."

Whilst another said: "I've been seeing these everywhere I want to try them."
