Many Brits are set to put their Christmas tree up this weekend, while others are holding out until December. Whether you’re just not in the festive spirit yet, or are avoiding unnecessary costs when it comes to energy bills, there are still ways to illuminate your home for the holidays without breaking the bank.
German retailer Lidl have launched a range of budget friendly Christmas lights this week, which are said to cost less than 30p to run for the whole of December - that’s less than 1p per day.
The store’s 3D Light Figures feature a light-up sleigh with flying reindeer, and launched in store this Thursday, November 17.

Lidl’s energy efficient lights come at an initial cost of £59.99, but cost pennies to run, with figures suggesting that they cost 28p a month to run, based on being on for six hours a day - such as from 5pm to 11pm.
The merry and bright decoration can be used indoors or outdoors, made up of 120 energy-saving, long-life LEDs, transforming any front garden or living room into a winter wonderland.
For those on a budget but who are still looking to add some Christmas sparkle that won’t be a drain on energy, shoppers can also pick up Lidl’s 200 LED Starburst String Lights for £9.99 to put on a truly show-stopping display. Equally as energy efficient, these cost only 23p to run for the whole month.
Shoppers can find both of these festive decorations in the middle of Lidl, while stocks last, that is.
