Lidl launches a marshmallow-flavoured craft beer

Marshmallows are fantastic paired with a lot of things: chocolate, fruit or biscuits when you want smores, but would you ever consider pairing marshmallows with beer?

This unusual coupling has been unveiled as part of Lidl’s Craft Beer Festival 2020.

The Marshmallow Milk Stout retails for £1.69 and, according to the supermarket, has ‘flavours of chocolate and vanilla with a subtle roasted coffee aroma and sweetness’.

The Marshmallow tipple isn’t the only new beer on Lidl’s menu. For the fruit aficionados among us, try the tropical Disco Forklift Truck Mango Pale Ale or the Frute Shute Amplitude - a hoppy pale ale with zesty notes of pineapple.

Or how about the deep red-hued Whitstable Bay Ruby Ale? Brewed using the brewery’s own chalk-filtered mineral water, it has caramel malt flavours and a subtle coffee aroma.

If you’d rather lend your sweet tooth to something more traditional, chocolatier Lindt has this week announced it’s launching a vegan range of its famed chocolate.

Available in salted caramel, cookie and hazelnut flavours, the bars will launch in Germany this November. While there is no set date for when they will launch in the UK, we can only hope they’ll bring it to British shores soon.
