Lidl has issued a warning to shoppers over a popular snack item.
The supermarket chain sent out an update to customers after a batch of Snaktastic Microwaveable Popcorn may have been contamined with a banned pesticide. A warning was sent out today to shoppers who may have purchased the item.
It said: "We are recalling out Snaktastic Microwaveable Popcorn, both the Salted and the Sweet variants with the best before 17/12/2024 which our records show you may have purchased. This is due to the product potentially containing Chlorpyrifos which is a banned pesticide in the UK.

"Although the consumption of the implicated best before dates of Snaktastic Microwaveable Popcorn is unlikely to pose an immediate risk to health, continuous consumption of Chlorpyrifos over a long period of time may pose a potential risk to health.
"No other best before dates or any other Snaktastic products are affected by this recall. Please check the packaging to see if you might have the affected production."
Lidl urged shoppers who have purchased this item to return it to their store. It added: "Anyone who has purchased our Snaktastic Microwaveable Popcorn, both the Salted and the Sweet variants with the best before date 17/12/2024 should return the item to their local Lidl store for a refund."
