Budget supermarket Lidl has hit back with a brilliant solution to a shopper who said they sometimes pretend not to have the Lidl Plus app as they are "too lazy" to go rooting through their handbag.
The quick witted response was made by the Lidl Ireland's marketing team on Twitter, after the poster made a confession that she said had been "weighing heavily on my conscience for ages."
Niecy O'Keefe wrote: "When the lidl_ireland cashier has been asking me if I have the Lidl Plus app, I’ve been saying “no” even though I do, because I’m too lazy to go rooting in my handbag for the phone."

She added in her confession that she can "only apologize."
Responding to her post, Lidl Ireland said: "We've our qr code tattooed so we don't have that problem" to which Niecy replied: "This is actually the way forward."
A slew of comments rolled in following the quick witted response from the Germany grocery giant.
One poster remarked how they had a special offer on potatoes one day through the app and as he was having a busy weekend cooking for 10 people, he opted for three bags. To his dismay, the offer only covered a single bag per shop.
Another remarked how you simply can't beat the offer of €10 off €50 from competitor Dunnes Stores.
Others saw the funny side to the story. "A decade of the rosary for your patience," they wrote accompanied with laughing emojis.
While one said: "I've been doing the same. Thanks for making this a safe space to talk about it."
