Lidl hiring over 1,000 new starters as it looks to open 'brand new stores'

A budget supermarket is looking to hire new employees as it looks to open "brand new stores" in the next five months.

Lidl, one of Britain's fastest-growing supermarkets, has announced it is looking to hire over 1,000 staff members, with many available in the Liverpool City Region. The roles are all hourly-paid and vary from customer assistants working on their various shop floors, to cleaners and also operatives based within their warehouses.

One such warehouse is in Runcorn, where an open day will be held on Monday, October 10, to hire many new starters to work in their warehouse team. The new starters will begin on £10.90 per hour,

Successful applicants will also be given the option to sign their contract on the day, so they can begin as soon as possible.

Lidl said it is one of the fastest growing supermarkets in the country, claiming over 1.5m new customers switching to the budget supermarket over the past year.

Nan Gibson, of Lidl GB, said: "We’re incredibly proud of our amazing colleagues across the country, whose hard work and loyalty mean that we are the fastest growing supermarket, with over 1.5m more people shopping with us than last year. As our customer base continues to grow, and as we open more new stores and warehouses, we need more people to join team Lidl.

"Not only will new colleagues be the highest paid in the industry as a result of our newly increased rates, they also be part of an amazing team of people that are working to help make good food accessible to all households, at a time that is so needed."
