Liam Williams will be reprimanded for comments he made claiming he would "kill" Chris Eubank Jr in the ring ahead of their middleweight clash.
Williams will take on Eubank Jr in a hotly-anticipated middleweight clash held on his home patch in Cardiff.
The pair have been long-term rivals and have frequently exchanged "hate" comments including recently when Williams insisted he would be willing to die in the ring.
The British Boxing Board of Control's general secretary Robert Smith has confirmed the organisation will be talking to Williams after the fight and deemed the comment "not appropriate".
“We will be calling Williams in and reprimanding him," Smith said. "Those are not the words we want to hear, and even if he meant it metaphorically it is unacceptable for a licensed boxer to say such a thing.
“Boxers are more than aware of the dangers in the sport. We will be speaking with him about it after the contest. It’s simply not appropriate.”
Williams has frequently mocked his opponent on social media and has continued to plead his "hate" for Eubank Jr in the run-in to the fight.
His latest comments were considered a step too far by the BBBofC with the Welshman claiming his rival makes his "skin crawl".
“Eubank makes my skin crawl every time I look at him," Williams said. "I deeply dislike the guy. I want to kill him. I’m so up for this fight and ready to go.
“I’m just so excited to put an end to this guy, drop him down a few levels. You’ll realise his level after this fight. He’s mentally tough, he takes a good shot, but his legs are very robotic.
Who will win - Chris Eubank Jr or Liam Williams? Let us know in the c omments section below
"He moves like he’s got wooden legs. I just think my skill set is a lot better. We’re going to find out in an intense fight.”
Eubank Jr has been disappointed with his rival's actions in the build-up to the fight but wants to settle their feud in the ring to set up a middleweight title shot.
The winner of the contest is expected to challenge the likes of Gennady Golovkin and Ryota Murata who were set to unify the division before their fight was cancelled.
Under the new coaching eye of Roy Jones Jr, Eubank Jr believes he is a good representative for the sport and has vowed to "push" Williams out of boxing.
“He is bad for the sport, and how he represents himself," Eubank Jr said. "I see myself standing over him, him getting counted out, raising my hands in victory.
"I didn’t spend a year and a half on a farm with chickens and snakes and raccoons training [with Jones Jr] for nothing.
“We’re on our way to cleaning up the middleweight division and Liam Williams is the next man in front of me. I’m going to take him out. All that matters is what’s going to happen on the night. It’s going to be a hell of a fight.”
