Liam Rosenior demands Hull City ‘ruthless’ streak ahead of Sunderland showdown

Hull City manager Liam Rosenior has urged his players to be more clinical in front of goal ahead of next weekend’s clash against Sunderland. A wasteful afternoon resulted in the Tigers being held to a goalless home draw by 10-man Rotherham United.

Astonishingly, City had 68 percent possession - but only managed one shot on target. Supporters at the MKM Stadium witnessed a drab affair as the visiting side did not manage any at all.

Tony Mowbray should be encouraged by Hull’s lacklustre performance before he welcomes them to the Stadium of Light. The Black Cats drew 1-1 in December’s reverse fixture and face a side that received a post-match rollicking for their manager.

After the Rotherham draw, Rosenior berated his players - urging them to become “ruthless” in the final third. He said: "It's frustrating, so frustrating. We have to score, we have to score the chances that we create. If we do score early like we should then we go on to win the game comfortably.

"We're not ruthless enough, I'm not going to make excuses because we had enough quality on the pitch and in the squad to score goals. It's a real shame because it was a great day for the football club, to have so many fans back. It was like the good old days when I was playing here, and I want to give them something to scream and shout about.

“But for having our finishing boots on, we would have done that. We've created more than enough chances to win two games, and the reason the fans don't go home as happy as they should is the fact we didn't finish the game off.”
