Liam Payne’s Dad Geoff Thanks Fans During Heartbreaking Visit To Hotel Where His Son Died

In a heart-wrenching moment, Geoff Payne, father of former One Direction star Liam Payne, made an emotional visit to the Buenos Aires hotel where his son tragically lost his life.

The grief-stricken father arrived in Argentina on Friday, just days after the shocking news of Liam’s death.

Geoff’s first stop was the City Judicial Morgue, where he formally identified his son’s body — a task no parent should ever have to face. Following this somber duty, he made his way to the Casa Sur Hotel, the site of Liam’s fatal fall.

As Geoff approached the hotel, he was met with a sea of cameras and reporters, creating a chaotic scene. Police and security guards attempted to shield Liam’s father from the media frenzy and fans still reeling from the loss of their idol.

Despite the commotion, Geoff managed to enter the hotel, where his son had spent his final moments.

When he emerged from the hotel, Geoff took time to acknowledge the heartfelt messages and flowers left by fans outside.

In a touching gesture, he leaned down to kiss some of the photos and notes, clearly moved by the outpouring of love. The crowd fell silent, respecting his grief and giving him space to process this overwhelming moment.

Before heading back inside, Geoff looked out at the sea of faces — mostly young women who had adored Liam — and mouthed a silent “Thank you,” per Buenos Aires Times.

Liam’s family released a heartfelt statement earlier this week that said “We are heartbroken. Liam will forever live in our hearts and we’ll remember him for his kind, funny and brave soul. We are supporting each other the best we can as a family and ask for privacy and space at this awful time.”

Adding to the wave of tributes, Liam’s girlfriend Kate Cassidy, who had left Argentina days before Liam’s death, expressed her heartbreak on Instagram. She stated she felt “totally lost” without him and emphasised her unconditional love for him.

Meanwhile, Cheryl Cole, Liam’s ex-girlfriend and mother of their seven-year-old son Bear, also released a heartfelt statement. She described the loss as “earth-shattering” and urged everyone to remember that they had lost a human being — not just a celebrity.

“Liam was not only a pop star and celebrity, he was a son, a brother, an uncle, a dear friend and a father to our 7-year-old son. A son that now has to face the reality of never seeing his father again,” Cheryl wrote on Instagram.

She went on to slam the media for “abhorrent reports” and asked the public to please give “Liam the little dignity he has left in the wake of his death to rest in some peace at last”.

As for what happened that fateful night, details are still emerging. Reports indicate that Liam fell from the third-floor balcony of the hotel on Wednesday evening.

Hotel staff had made two emergency calls about a guest who seemed to be under the influence before the tragic incident occurred.
