Liam Payne 'may have been semi-conscious or completely unconscious' at time of fall

Liam Payne died at the age of 31

Liam Payne may have been "semi-conscious or completely unconscious" when he fell to his death, according to Argentina's prosecutor office.

The pop star died on Wednesday (16.10.24), aged 31, after falling from the balcony of his hotel room, and authorities in Argentina have confirmed that "everything indicates" the singer was alone at the time of his death.

An ongoing investigation into the tragedy is exploring the "possible involvement of third parties in the events prior". However, none of Liam's injuries suggested the involvement of third parties, according to a forensics report.

A series of substances were seized from Liam's hotel room "indicating previous situation of alcohol and drug consumption".

The prosecutor's office noted that a search of the room uncovered "what appeared to be narcotics, alcohol, destroyed objects and furniture".

Liam was pronounced dead after falling from the third floor of the hotel. His body was found in the hotel's inner courtyard at around 5pm local time.

The former One Direction star - who joined the band in 2010, after appearing on the UK version of 'The X Factor' - was actually posting on social media hours before his death.

Speaking about his plans for the day, Liam told his Snapchat followers: "Today, we ride. We're going to ride some horses.

"Think I'm going to play polo again, which is going to put me out of action for about six weeks.

"It's so hard to do, number one, my back and my neck from swinging that hammer around ... or mallet, I think it's called if you're in the know. It hurts a lot, it's very tough to do."
