Liam Payne and Tommy Fury asked 'what is this?' over cryptic announcement as fans are left worried

Liam Payne and Tommy Fury have baffled fans with a cryptic announcement shared on their social media accounts. On Wednesday afternoon the One Direction singer, 29, and the Manchester boxer, 23, both shared a nose-to-nose promo picture of themselves in what fans thought could be a fight poster.

The two names topped the poster, although without a ‘vs’, and the venue was given as Old Trafford, Manchester. "This summer. Announcement tomorrow," it said.

Gabriel Maniak cheered: "Let’s go Broo!!" But sall.y8118 asked: "LIAM WHAT IS THAT?" lill.jerome questioned: "Are they gonna have a riff off?"

beckahjade27 told Liam: "Liam, this is the wrong direction for you." amyrush88 complained: "Dear lord....Making an absolute mockery of boxing!" And hinwoodjess commented: "April fools day has passed?"

Graciejadalynn exclaimed: "WHAT IM CONFUSED." eutaynadias asked: "What is this?" strongestfandom.24 also shouted: "WHAT IS THIS???" And zlsayitall asked Liam: "ARE YOU TURNING INTO A BOXER NOW???"

Last month singer Liam, whose hits include Strip That Down, previously left people stunned as stepped out at a red carpet event looking very different with a very chiselled jawline. Fans did a double-take as he supported his bandmate Louis Tomlinson at the premiere for his new film All Of Those Voices.

In February Tommy , the half-brother of heavyweight champion Tyson, won his long-awaited and much-anticipated fight with Jake Paul in victory in Saudi Arabia. The former Love Island star defeated Jake by split decision after eight rounds.

There was an adorable moment as Tommy carried out his ring walk ahead of his fight wearing a super-sweet tribute to his newborn daughter Bambi, who was born just weeks earlier on January 23. He wore a white and hooded gown bearing his baby girl's name written in gold lettering on the chest. Tommy also had Bambi's name on the waistband of his shorts.

After his win his partner Molly-Mae Hague, who was joined at home by her sister Zoe and friends Maura Higgins, Stephanie Lam and Ellen Graham as the nailbiting event took place, said on her Instagram Stories: "Never a doubt in my mind." And Tommy said loving words dedicated to Molly-Mae and their tiny bundle of joy.

"I want to dedicate this fight to my new baby girl Bambi at home and my Mrs, I love you. I can’t wait to see you. This fight was for you. It’s for you Bambi, I love you," he said.
