Liam Gallagher vows to go sober and quit booze ahead of epic Knebworth gigs

Liam Gallagher is giving up his wild lifestyle - until the end of his show-stopping Knebworth gigs, anyway.

The Oasis icon, 49, is planning to stop give up alcohol and stop being a hell-raiser until he takes to the stage in June.

Around 160,000 fans will see the performances at the Hertfordshire venue and he wants to be at on tip top form.

Staying sober is just the start, Liam has revealed his plans to start hitting the treadmill to be fighting fit for the shows and will give up the takeaways as the weeks tick down.

"I've got a month to prepare for Knebworth so I'm going to stay out of trouble, stay in the house, chill out, eat well, do some exercise and not drink alcohol or do any of that nonsense," he told The Sun.

"As you get older you've got to prepare right for these gigs.

"You can't be going there like you're 20 otherwise it'll sound s**t and people pay a lot of money, so I've got to prepare right."

Liam recently declared he needs a double hip replacement but that won't stop him getting into shape.

He says he's too old now to grab the mic after a wild night and people pay too much money to see him not be at his very best.

The musician – whose birthday is in September – has a long history of being a brash, drink swilling, rock and roll frontman but now swears it's quiet nights in with a cup of tea now.

It has been 28 years since Liam burst onto the music scene as one half of Oasis alongside his older brother, Noel.

The pair quickly developed a reputation as the bad boys of Britpop – with a high profile rivalry with the band Blur and various alcohol fuelled incidents landing them in trouble.

The band split in 2009, with Liam embarking on a new assault on the charts via a new band called Beady Eye which he fronted between 2009 and 2014.

He then embarked on a full solo career in 2016 with the release of his debut solo album, As You Were, the following year which topped the UK album charts.

His second solo album, titled Why Me? Why Not., was released in 2019 and also hit the top of the charts.
