Liam Gallagher "really upset" after deleting death threat tweet to Stefan Savic

Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher has deleted his tweet that aimed a death threat at Atletico Madrid's Stefan Savic and admitted he's "really upset" following his actions.

The defender was heavily involved in some of the unsavoury scenes that occurred at the Wanda Metropolitano on Wednesday night as Manchester City won out in their quarter-final tie. Savic's physical approach saw him grapple with Phil Foden whilst he appeared to headbutt Raheem Sterling.

A mass brawl broke out, which later saw tensions flare in the tunnel after full-time. Savic, once of Manchester City, was among those leading Atletico's antics which clearly angered Gallagher. He wrote on social media: "Stefan Savic this is a threat if I come across you ya goofy looking C*** your dead MCFC."

The Oasis star has since removed his post and tweeted: "Im really upset and annoyed at myself I feel I’ve let all my fans down by my outlandish behaviour I’m a role model to GROWN UPS hope you can forgive me". He also said: "Love love love peace peace peace forgive forgive forgive kiss kiss kiss".

UEFA have announced they will be investigating the scenes in the Spanish capital, which have been widely condemned. Rio Ferdinand spoke after on BT Sport and said: "Disgraceful behaviour from the Atletico players, they should be embarrassed with some of the antics they have gone on. You have to say, talking about football, well done to Atletico Madrid as they made Manchester City play in a way we haven't seen for a long time, took them out of their rhythm and their stride, but some of the stuff towards the end was not what you want to see on a football pitch."

City defender John Stones helped his side keep out the Spanish champions across the two-legs. He produced a vital block late on as Atletico went in search of a goal that would've sent the tie to extra-time. The centre-half confessed the squad were prepared for a hostile atmosphere and the actions of Atletico.

"We know sometimes they try and make things like that happen, we dealt with it really well," he told BT Sport. "It's not nice to talk about it. Over two legs we played incredibly against an experienced team in what they do. I'm so proud of the lads how we kept our control, our tempers. It's easy to get drawn into things.

"We're happy to be through and it's a great night. We knew it's not an easy place to come, a hostile environment. The boys who've been here before and played against some of their players, it was a difficult night all round. How we defended and controlled ourselves was incredible."
