Liam Gallagher has revealed his delight at the news his former Oasis bandmate Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs has been given the all clear from tonsil cancer.
Arthurs, 57, first revealed details of his diagnosis in April adding that he was taking time out from music and subsequently having to miss Liam's return to Knebworth in the summer - the triumphant scene of Oasis' two record-breaking 1996 concerts.
On Thursday evening, however, he told his Instagram and Twitter followers that his radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatments had proven successful.
Thanking fans for their ongoing support he wrote: "Update on my cancer; I had a full scan 10 days ago and it's all clear, it's gone.
"Thank you so much all of you for the messages I've had throughout, you've helped more than you know. Thank you especially to the team at @TheChristieNHS, into recovery now and see you all soon x."
Rock 'n' roll star Liam, meanwhile, was quick to respond to his lifelong friend, declaring on Twitter: "YES BONEHEAD WE KNEW YOUD KICK ITS A**E SOOOOO F***ING HAPPY GUINNESS LG x."
The frontman, who celebrated his 50th birthday last week then - in his own unique way - then offered comforting words to the rhythm guitarist's family.
"SHOUT OUT TO THE CELESTIAL KATE ARTHURS AND LUCY AND JUDE THE MILKY BARS R ON ME CMON YOU KNOW LG X," he said.
Celebrating his big day last week, meanwhile, Liam revealed he is embracing middle age by making some changes to his diet. Namely, drinking half a bottle of brandy during his live shows.
He said he now needs a little Dutch courage to boost his swagger. "I've been getting a bit battered on stage recently," he explained.
"As you get older, you're not as c**ksure. So I've been having a brandy just to chill me out.
"About the seventh song or the sixth song you think, 'Yeah, this is actually all right. I'll have another one.' By the time you've done your 20th song you've done a bottle."
