Liam Gallagher excites fans by confirming supergroup collaboration with Stone Roses' legend

Liam Gallagher has revealed that he's working on fresh music with a Stone Roses legend, in the form of a supergroup collaboration.

Speculation has arisen about the potential of Gallagher and John Squire joining forces, following hints earlier this year - with fans of both Manchester rock stars eagerly anticipating confirmation ever since.

During his sold-out performances at Knebworth, Liam brought out the guitarist to perform on hit 1995 Oasis track: Champagne Supernova.

The Daily Star reports that welcoming John onto the stage, the frontman exclaimed: "A big [SIC] round of applause for the coolest man on the planet, the one and only John [SIC] Squire."

At the time, Liam shared a tweet with his followers reading 'super group incoming LG JS' which sent fans into a frenzy, and now he's confirmed the news fully - announcing that the pair are working on fresh music together during an interview with Apple Music 1's Matt Wilkinson.

When asked for an update, Burnage-born Liam responded: "Yeah, serious, man, but we've got things to do first, and he's got things to clear up and that. But yeah, I'm definitely going to do summat at some point."

He went on to discuss whether the pair have had the conversations, explaining: "Maybe, yeah, probably did that at Knebworth and that, I think, if I can remember anything about it. But, no, there's talk about summat, maybe but no rush, he's my man, I love him, so if he's got any tunes that need singing, I'm the boy, mate."

Despite their deep love for one another, Liam recently revealed he was 'obsessed' with the Roses, who just happened to be the first gig he went to at Manchester's International 2. He explained that his brother Noel Gallagher loved The Smiths but they were 'too early' for him as well as being 'too student-y'.

Liam added: "But the Roses were a bit more laddy – not as laddy as us, but it felt a bit more right."

The hitmaker is currently touring across the globe, having performed the UK leg of his headline tour but admits he's got one pre-stage ritual. He went on to explain that he has half a bottle of brandy before each show, adding: "I have kind of backed it off now but the last year I've been walloping the brandy with honey and hot water and going on a little bit.

"I've been getting a bit battered on stage recently, not battered as much but just… I wouldn't say nerves but I think as you get older, you do get a little bit more… you're not as cocksure."
