Liam Cooper sends 'fighting' message as he sympathises with Leeds United supporters' frustration

Leeds United captain Liam Cooper says the players need to stand up and take responsibility after a fourth defeat on the spin against Fulham on Sunday.

The Whites last tasted victory in August and have dropped into the relegation zone after a run of eight matches without a win. The pressure is heating up on Jesse Marsch, but Cooper believes the frustration from the supporters is completely understandable.

"Rightly so, they're [the supporters] disappointed," Cooper told the media after the Fulham defeat. "This club needs to be winning football games and we're not doing that at the minute.

He added: "We've got to go and get a result from somewhere. We as players have got to stand up and go and get a result.

"We know we're at a big club and you've got to take it on the chin, and when your backs are against the wall you've got to come out fighting.

"We've got to do that, we need every man inside there, to come out and take some responsibility and put this right."

Aston Villa and Leicester City's 4-0 victories over Brentford and Wolves respectively have left Leeds two points adrift of safety.

They travel to Anfield next to face Liverpool, before rounding off their fixtures before the World Cup, with the visit of AFC Bournemouth and a trip to Tottenham.
