Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ offensive coordinator Liam Coen will no longer be in the running for the Jacksonville Jaguars’ head coaching opening.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Coen is staying with the Buccaneers as their offensive coordinator and under a new contract that makes him among the highest-paid offensive coordinators in football.
After the Bucs lost former offensive Dave Canales last offseason to the Carolina Panthers after he had only one year as the team’s offensive coordinator, the team was not going to let history repeat itself with Coen.
Under Coen, the Bucs had one of the most productive offenses in football in 2024, ranking top-five in scoring, passing yards per game, and rushing yards per game, the only team in the NFL to do so in all three categories.
By all accounts, it looked like Coen was the favorite to be the next Jaguars’ head coach.
The Jaguars have second interviews scheduled later this week with Patrick Graham and Robert Saleh. But now after missing out on Ben Johnson, the Jaguars also won’t be getting Liam Coen either.
