A LGBT-friendly city centre hotel will open its doors to guests next week with accommodation from just £25 a night. Revolver, situated in the heart of Glasgow's Merchant City, will welcome customers from August 15, offering 88 beds across the three floors.
The complex has 29 bedrooms or apartments, with prices ranging from £25 to £300 per night, and it is located above the popular Glasgow nightclub, Polo Lounge, which is renowned for its drag performances. There is a mix of shared quarters, as well as bedrooms and apartment spaces, which make it suitable for solo travellers, a group of friends, or a couple.
The shared rooms can hold between six and eight people at one time, with these having access to a communal bathroom. The hotel rooms and serviced apartments come with their own en-suite facilities. Hotel amenities include a rooftop terrace, with views overlooking the city and its own herb garden to grow produce for the bar and restaurants; a gym and treatment rooms offering a variety of massages and other facilities.
Despite its LGBTQ+ links, Revolver commits to being inclusive and open for all. It is managed by the WORQ Group, which has more than a decade of experience working with modern-day hospitality spaces.
Jonathan Doherty, owner of the group, said: “The group has made quite a ripple in the boutique hotel scene in the West of Scotland and the surrounding areas recently, with award-winning Boutique50 in Glasgow’s gorgeous West End, to Riva Boutique Hotel in Helensburgh, just a short train journey from the city. The group is hoping to make Revolver the blueprint, and is already looking at sites in different cities. The group clearly has no plans on slowing down."
Niall Gillon, Revolver’s general manager, added: “We’re thrilled to be able to unveil the Revolver to the world. Merchant City is a bustling part of the city and to be sat above The Polo Lounge is a real honour. Places like Revolver are important for the LGBTQIA+ community as they act as an inclusive space to stay - whether you’re local or from overseas."
