LFC's longest supporter gets very special message from Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp

One of Liverpool football club's longest holding season ticket holder's received a very special message on a very special day.

Charles Gallagher is an avid LFC fan, having followed every game and achievement for as long as he can remember, and proudly holds the title as one of the club's longest season ticket holders. After celebrating his 100th birthday on May 20, surrounded by his family, his day was made with a special message.

Jurgen Klopp himself sent a very personal message to Charles in the form of a video, which he was "made up". In the video, Klopp got his best singing voice ready as he sang a very special happy birthday.

He added: "100, the big 100 wow, massive, what an achievement. Congratulations Charlie. 100 years of being a Liverpool supporter, wow, I'm not sure anyone could cope with that. Unbelievable.

"I wish you the very, very, very best day ever. You have a massive party this afternoon between 2pm and 4pm. That's how it goes, don't drink too much, but enjoy yourself and all the people around you. With love from the AXA training centre to you. You'll Never Walk Alone."

Charlie has been a huge Liverpool supporter for as long as he can remember, following every game and every achievement. Granddaughter Claire Casswell told the ECHO: "He's followed every game and achievement. He stopped going to matches a few years ago but we've been trying to get the possibility of getting him to a game.

"He watches them all the time, he's even got his own Liverpool top signed by everyone. He was at Hillsborough with my dad and brother. They never talk about that but he has been to many games and it is a massive passion in his life.

"His favourite memory is of Liverpool winning their first FA Cup against Leeds in 1965, when Bill Shankly was the manager. He's an avid supporter, just loves everything about them but equally is highly critical when they play badly."

So it's no surprise the birthday surprise from the LFC legend was greatly appreciated for Charlie last weekend. And to top off his very special day, which was spent at a garden party surrounded by his loved one, the LFC trophies were brought around for them to see.

Speaking about the special event, which brought a smile to his face, Claire said: "He was really emotional. He couldn't believe he took the time to do this, he was over the moon."

Charlie previously shared his top tips for a long and happy life which included not to worry about getting old as "age is just a number". He added that what also helps is "porridge in the morning with blueberries" and "dark chocolate before bed".
