Leyton Orient are embarking upon a fourth straight season in League Two
(Picture: Getty Images)Leyton Orient will begin the new League Two season with a home clash against newly-promoted Grimsby on July 30.
It was a frustrating campaign for The O’s in 2021/22, with a worrying relegation battle and disastrous run of picking up just two points from a possible 30 not quite what was anticipated when Kenny Jackett was first appointed as manager.
The former Portsmouth boss was replaced in the Brisbane Road dugout in March by Richie Wellens, who will now be looking to guide Orient further up the table in his first full season at the helm after steering them to 13th.
They open the new season against National League play-off winners Grimsby, who bounced back to the EFL at the first attempt, with trips to Crawley, Swindon, Colchester and AFC Wimbledon coming up during the early stages of 2022/23 as well as home meetings with Mansfield, Hartlepool, Tranmere and Walsall.
Stevenage are the visitors on Boxing Day, followed by Newport away and the first fixture of 2023 at Northampton on New Year’s Day. Proceedings conclude away in Bradford on the final day in May.
Orient will not have a break during the winter months, with the League One and League Two seasons poised to continue throughout the World Cup in Qatar while the Premier League and Championship pause.
