Coronavirus activity is on the increase in the Lexington area. That’s according to the latest information coming from the Fayette County Health Department.
Officials at the Lexington Health Department report 264 lab-confirmed cases of COVID last week. That compares to 38 per week in early July and 106 a week the beginning of August. Home tests are not included in these counts. The figures are low compared to this time a year ago when cases numbered 887 new cases per week.
Hospitalization from coronavirus remains relatively low with nine new admissions reported the past week.
A new COVID vaccine/booster is expected in about a month. Anyone who has not received the initial vaccination is urged to do so now and not wait for the booster.
