Lexington city officials preparing for the annual homeless count later this month

The call is going out for volunteers to assist with the annual homeless count in the Lexington area. This year’s count is scheduled for January 25th.

The Lex End Homelessness Continuum of Care is seeking teams of volunteers to visit dozens of outdoor locations where unsheltered persons might be found.

Volunteers will count the individuals identified as unsheltered, complete surveys with them, facilitate access to emergency shelters, and distribute care packages. Each team is responsible for providing its own transportation. Driver assignments are important to the successful operation of the count.

Volunteers should anticipate completing a 40-minute on-demand training webinar via zoom. Training is mandatory and must be completed prior to LexCount. The count is scheduled from 10:00 to 11:59 p.m. on the 25th.
