Lancaster, Pa. - Lexi Thompson faced a challenging start at the U.S. Women's Open, finishing with a 13-over-par total after a disappointing performance in the opening rounds. The 29-year-old golfer expressed mixed emotions as she reflected on her decision to reduce her tournament schedule after this year.

Thompson, who made her Women's Open debut at the age of 12 in 2007, shared advice she would give her younger self - to enjoy life and be grateful for every experience. Despite her struggles on the course, she acknowledged the support from fans, family, and friends during the tournament.

While Thompson remains uncertain about her future plans, she is determined to continue playing for the rest of the year. Her immediate goal is to secure a spot on the Solheim Cup team later this year. However, her recent performance may impact her exemption status for future U.S. Women's Open events.

Thompson, currently ranked 54th in the world, plans to focus on her game in preparation for upcoming tournaments, including the KPMG Women's PGA at Sahalee. She highlighted the competitive spirit and friendships she has developed throughout her career, while also looking forward to a more balanced lifestyle away from the demanding schedule of professional golf.
