Manchester United are up for sale. The Glazers announced late last year that the club were looking for new forms of investment which could result in a sale, and United fans are waiting to see who may take over at Old Trafford.
It is clear that United needs investment. A lack of funds have limited Erik ten Hag's ability to operate in the January transfer market and it seems the manager will have to settle on deals for Jack Butland and Wout Weghorst as reinforcements for his squad, though a move for the latter has not yet been completed.

Since the initial announcement, things have gone quiet behind the scenes as the Glazers and the Raine Group, who have been hired to oversee a potential sale, work on a deal. Interested parties such as Apple, Amazon and from Saudi Arabia have been mooted as bidders, but one name that has ever presently been linked to buying the club is Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
The INEOS owner was a boyhood United fan and has been linked with a potential takeover for years. The Mirror are now reporting that he may have a famous name on board for his consortium's bid.
Sir Lewis Hamilton has reportedly registered an interest in joining Ratcliffe's bid for United, with the seven-time Formula 1 champion being well acquainted with the 70-year-old billionaire, as INEOS own a stake in the Mercedes F1 team as well as sponsoring it.
Hamilton was reported to be part of Sir Martin Broughton's failed bid to buy Chelsea last year but it seems that has not dissuaded him from his goal of owning part of a football team.
The 37-year-old was recently named in the Top 10 best-paid athletes in the world by Forbes and has a net worth of around £234.4m.
