Lewis Hamilton admits there's "nothing he can do" to compete with Max Verstappen as he fears Red Bull will win every race this season.
The Dutchman won the Canadian Grand Prix on Sunday, his fourth win on the bounce as he extended his championship lead. Verstappen has won six of the eight races so far this term with team-mate Sergio Perez winning the other two.
Verstappen has won his recent races with ease, storming home in Montreal ahead of Fernando Alonso and Hamilton. The Mercedes driver attempted to chase down his Aston Martin rival, but neither could touch the Dutchman, even when a safety car backed the pack up.
Hamilton, who for the majority of his career has been in a race-winning car, is currently competing for podiums at best. The Brit has previously suggested this Red Bull package might be the best in the modern era, even outdoing the best Silver Arrows his driven.
He was quizzed on his frustration levels and replied: "Beyond. It’s not a frustration anymore, if it ever was. It's… you know how it is, and you know what you're faced with, and there's nothing I can do about their amazing performance. It's likely that they will win every race, moving forwards, this year, unless the Astons and us put a lot more performance on the cars, or their car doesn’t finish.
'It's not easy with the regulations to find the amount of performance that they have, advantage-wise. They've got to be 30 points upon us in certain points through the lap and we've got some work to do.
"But it's not that it's frustrating, I just, as I said, look forward to… I'm happy to firstly be back in the mix and I'm just hoping at some stage we can have it all a little bit more level so we can get back to some of the good races we had back in 2021. And to have all three of us in a super-tight battle would be sick."
Mercedes, even in their pomp, were never able to win every race in a season. In 2014 they won all but three races and, two years later, missed out on winning just two races. Red Bull have played down the possibility of dominating the entire season with Hamilton and Alonso looking to seize on any mistakes.
The F1 calendar includes 22 races this season meaning there are 14 more occasions to upset the pacesetters. Hamilton endured the first winless season of his career in 2022 whilst Alonso is seeking a first win in a decade.
