Nottingham Forest striker Lewis Grabban is “on course” in his recovery from an ankle injury.
The front man suffered a sprain in the Reds’ 2-1 defeat to Cardiff City at the end of January, ruling him out for a couple of months.
He has not had to undergo surgery, as had initially been feared, and boss Steve Cooper is hopeful Grabban will be back among his teammates soon after the upcoming international break.
The two-week hiatus comes after Forest’s clash at Fulham midway through this month, leaving a potential return for the team’s top scorer in the potentially-defining final few weeks of the campaign.
McKenna impressing
He might have taken a bit of stick afterwards, but Nottingham Forest defender Scott McKenna has been encouraged to make more rampages down the pitch.
The centre-back powered down the left flank against Bristol City at the weekend and linked up with Max Lowe to set up James Garner for the Reds’ second goal of a 2-0 win.
Head coach Steve Cooper is eager for his team to play with freedom and take responsibility for their own decisions on the pitch.
And he was delighted with McKenna’s contribution against the Robins - even if it did raise “a chuckle” in the changing room afterwards.
Silva situation
Xande Silva hasn’t seen too much game time since his summer move to Nottingham Forest.
But the attacker seems to be enjoying his time at the City Ground nevertheless.
Silva joined the Reds on deadline day last August from West Ham United, putting pen to paper on a two-year deal.
He has featured just seven times so far this term, making the starting XI only once as he has had to settle for watching on from the bench.
Transfer talk
German giants Bayern Munich have become the latest team to be linked with Nottingham Forest defender Djed Spence.
The on-loan Middlesbrough ace already has a long list of potential suitors ahead of the summer transfer window, with his eye-catching form for the Reds putting him in the spotlight.
Liverpool, Arsenal, Leeds United, Brentford, Southampton, Roma and Inter Milan have already been linked with the on-loan Middlesbrough ace, while Tottenham Hotspur reportedly still have him on their radar after seeing two bids turned down in January.
Earlier this week, it was reported at least a dozen sides have sent scouts to check on Spence in recent months.
