Lewis Ferguson made to wait for Serie A debut following suspension rules

LEWIS FERGUSON is being made to wait for his debut in Serie A.

The Scotland midfielder is suspended for the first two matches of the league season in Italy.

However, the 22-year-old could make his first appearance for Bologna tonight in the Coppa Italia.

Ferguson's side take on Cosenza in the first round.

Should he feature, it will be his first appearance since his £3million transfer from Aberdeen.

When the league campaign gets underway though, the Scotland international will need to sit out.

This us due to a two-match ban carried over from his time in Scotland.

He was booked in the second last match of the season against Hibs, which took his tally to six cards after a ban earlier in the campaign.

If he'd remained at the Dons, he would've missed the opening two Premiership matches against Celtic and St Mirren.

With the suspension carried over, Ferguson will miss Bologna's opening two games against Lazio and Verona.

His first Serie A appearance could now come versus AC Milan at the San Siro on August 27.
