Lewis Ferguson in Bologna transfer declaration as Juventus 'target' set to delay Aberdeen sell on payday

Scotland international Lewis Ferguson has played down speculation linking him with a move away from Bologna with Serie A giants Juventus touted as an interested party in the midfielder.

The former Aberdeen star moved to the Serie A club in the summer for a fee that could eventually rise to £3million, with the Dons also understood to have locked in a sell-on fee for the 23-year-old when he leaves Bologna. Ferguson has become a key member of the side for the I Rossoblù with the January window rapidly approaching, with some expecting Ferguson to follow the same career path as Aaron Hickey.

Hickey impressed in Serie A before earning a big move to the English Premier League with Brentford, and speculation has ramped up in Italy that Ferguson could be set to be the next Scot to leave Bologna in a big money move. However, Ferguson has moved to cool any transfer speculation after making his first appearance at the Stadio Olimpico in a narrow 1-0 defeat to Roma.

After facing Jose Mourinho's men, Ferguson told the Italian press: "I want to keep up the performance levels and look forward, the championship is long and we want to score as many points as possible. I'm fine in Bologna.

"I like playing in Serie A. I've been here for seven months and I want to continue working to improve and grow."

Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri was reportedly impressed with the Scotland cap and his displays with a January move being considering, but the Turin giants are embroiled in turmoil off the pitch with the full board of directors resigning earlier this season. Ferguson has netted three goals so far this term, making 11 appearances in all competitions.
