Lewis Crocker ready to 'realise full potential' after linking up with Adam Booth

Lewis Crocker insists he hasn't even scratched the surface of his ability as he prepares for his ring return this summer.

The unbeaten welterweight has been added to the massive Michael Conlan bill set for Belfast's SSE Arena on August 6.

Crocker hasn't fought since November last year, but has now teamed up with Adam Booth who also trains super-featherweight star Conlan. And the 25-year-old says working alongside the pair in England has opened his eyes to what is needed to make it at the elite end of boxing.

"I can' wait for August 6. It seems like ages since the last time I was out," Crocker told Belfast Live.

"I hoped to get out in February or March, but nothing came to fruition. I then met up with Jamie Conlan who mentioned to me about August, and now it's all systems go.

"I am over training in England now as well with Adam Booth. I always knew I eventually had to move across the water, or maybe to the USA, to take my career to the next level.

"Mick (Conlan) is obviously over here so I came over for a bit of training and I love it. There is great sparring and they have great facilities.

"I have everything I need to get better and improve. This is my second week of camp and I know how good I can actually be with this sort of training."

Crocker has eased to a perfect record of 14-0 in the pro ranks, with eight of those wins coming by way of knockout. He fought twice in 2021 but has yet to appear in 2022.

"I am ready to make up for lost time. I never fully understood how hard I should have been training and the levels of Mick and the others are training," he added.

"So it has given me so more encouragement and made me realise how good I can be. There is definitely so much more to come from me.

"I haven't even touched the surface of where I am going to be. As a boxer I am constantly learning things, even things like my fitness.

"I know I will be 10 times the fighter I am now. Adam Booth has so much experience and we have some great fighters here, like Josh Kelly. It is a really great team and everyone works off each other as well.

"And just listening to Adam. Some of the stuff he says and has me doing is amazing. I am more excited knowing I can be much better than what I have been."

Crocker will return to familiar territory on August 6. He has fought at the SSE three times in his career, with all three fights ending with a knockout win.

"August 6 is a great card and it's great to be back at the SSE. I have had three fights there and all three have been stoppages," he added.

"Hopefully that continues on August 6. I want to stay busy after being out of the ring for a good few months.

"I think I will be kept busy now. That's something that has been out of my control, but with the right team I should be active enough and progress quickly."
