Lewis Capaldi has broken his social media silence with a cryptic post that could perhaps be related to the release of his long-awaited second album.
The Someone You Loved singer came off social media back in January 2021 citing preparation for his second album as the reason behind the break. He wrote at the time that he'd enjoyed "the most incredible few years" and it meant "the world to have the support" of his fans.
In March 2021 he made a brief reappearance to announce that he wasn't just taking a break from social media, but also from his shows.

A statement from the West Lothian crooner wrote: "I'd be lying if I said I haven't been terrified about making my next album since the moment I finished 'Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent'. I've been writing loads of tunes I'm really excited about and I can't wait for you to hear them."
But on Friday evening Lewis, 25, returned to social media by uploading to his Instagram stories. His profile picture was updated to the same snap seen in his story.
The date, September 2 is teased across a purple background as well as a reference to 'TikTok' and time stamps of 10pm British Summer Time (BST), 2pm Pacific Time (PT) and 5pm Eastern Time (ET).
Lewis only recently stepped back into the spotlight, performing at music festivals across the world this year such as the Sziget Festival in Hungary, the Lowlands Festival in the Netherlands, and of course TRNSMT where he took centre stage at Glasgow Green.
Capaldi, or 'Lewis Calarmari' as he's sometimes referred to, was also recently seen out and about with On Direction star, Niall Horan in Dublin before the pair began busking to locals.
Fans have been waiting a while to hear his new music after his successful album 'Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent'.
The record became the best selling album in the UK in five years, spending five weeks at number one in its first six weeks of release. It also achieved gold status in the UK only two weeks after release.

Lewis admitted that, despite lockdown, he was "horribly lazy" which led to him pushing a number of scheduled shows back in the diary.
During his headline set at Latitude festival, he told fans: "I just want to say now, I have no new music to play you. I rescheduled a lot of shows last year because I was like, ‘Guys, I need to finish my new album’.
"And I was supposed to do it, but I am horribly lazy."
Fans took to social media with the hopes that this will be the announcement of his second album.
One also shared a screen shot of an e-mail from the singer with it reading: "It's been a while . . . something is coming."
One wrote: "Welcome back."
Another commented: "What's happening Lewis Capaldi?"
A third added: "Having Lewis Capaldi update socials is quite possibly one of the best things that’s happened to me today. Excited is an understatement"
