Lewis Capaldi strips off as a wrestler as he celebrates his fifth UK number one

Lewis Capaldi has stripped off into wrestling gear as he celebrates his fifth UK number-one single.

The West Lothian singer released the third single, Wish You The Best, from his new album Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent which will be released on May 19. Lewis, 26, who has been dubbed the 'Scottish Beyonce' before has now totalled the same number of UK No 1 singles as the Crazy In Love hitmaker.

Lewis' latest achievement puts him in good standing as he equals the likes of the Black Eyed Peas, David Bowie, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, and The Police with No 1 singles.

In a message to fans, Lewis wrote: "Can you dig it suckaaaaaaa??!!!? Cannot believe I’m able to say that Wish You The Best is my 5th UK Number 1. Honestly, I am so happy and continue to be astounded by everyone’s support. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

In another comment, Lewis added: "also means that it’s the 3rd number 1 song in a row from this new album with ‘forget me’ and ‘pointless’!!! what is actually going on have no words right now!!

"also it means ‘wish you the best’ is no 1 this week, ‘forget me’ is no 7 and ‘pointless’ is at number 16!!!!! album isn’t even out for another month, absolute madness. thank u all so so much!!"

This achievement comes after Lewis revealed he lost a small fortune on a music video that ended up being scrapped due to his disappointing acting performance. The singer filmed an expensive video for his hit single Pointless where he was supposed to be acting as the love interest of a young woman but completely failed.

Speaking in an interview on Canadian radio, he said: "I can't act, I have trouble looking people in the eye. I don't know what it is, maybe intimacy issues.

"We shot a video for my song Pointless which never got released because it was awful. I couldn't look at the actress in the face and give a performance that is convincing. I hate video shoots.

"It cost a lot of money as well, the label's money, which in turn I'm finding out that I actually need to pay that back. So any budding artists who think 'Oh let's sign to a major label,' just know when you spend money, it's your money."
