Lewis Capaldi reveals he is off booze in a bid to keep healthy ahead of TRNSMT appearance

Lewis Capaldi has revealed he’s off the booze and has been keeping healthy ahead of todays appearance at Glasgow Green’s TRNSMT festival.

And the Someone You Loved singer says he’s made it a priority to stay off the drink to get his voice ship shape for his new album recording.

The singer recently visited new bar and restaurant Wunderbar on Glasgow’s Buchanan Street and he enjoyed tucking into some of their speciality hot dogs, burgers and nachos.

Lewis, however, stayed away from their boozy cocktails in a bid to get stay fit ahead of his headline gig tonight.

The singer who is known for liking a good party, was recently seen pouring a pint behind the bar in Italian restaurant Amore in Dennistoun before his big headline gig at the Isle of Whyte festival.

He has now told the Daily Record: “I’m off the drink. I’ve been getting my voice ready for the new album and of course TRNSMT.”

Lewis, who looked fresh in his white sweatshirt, said he was doing well and couldn’t wait to get his new material out to fans.

He joked recently that there was a delay in his new tunes, saying at Isle of Whyte festival: “I was meant to play new music but I’m a lazy c*** and didn’t do it over lockdown.”

Lewis has been known for his antics backstage and at events in the past and swore off booze for a month following the Grammy’s in 2020.

At the US music bash, he lost out on a gong to Billie Eilish for song of the year and ended up at the after party, joining Niall Horan, Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes for some shenanigans.

The star hilariously ended up kissing his former One Direction friend for a drunken joke while clutching onto his pint.

He said afterwards: “Big week at the Grammy's guys. I got pretty drunk.

"I'm off the booze for a month now - apart from the Brits."

True to his word he accepted awards for Best New Artist and Best Song at the Brit Awards in 2021 whilst carrying a bottle of Buckfast in his other hand.

The Scottish Beyoncé defended himself at the time saying: “Imagine having a drink on my first night off in months after winning two Brit awards. Can you believe it?”

Lewis has had a busy summer with appearances in Belfast Belsonic , Lancashire’s Latham festival, Latitude in Suffolk, Cardiff Castle, London’s 02 and more.
