Lewis Capaldi reveals he hates Love Island because of ex's stint on the show

Lewis Capaldi has revealed he’s fallen out of love with Love Island – because his ex used to be on it.

The singer has now switched his allegiance to Netflix reality show Love Is Blind ever since Paige Turley appeared on and won the ITV island series in 2020. But he has called for “ugly” people to go on the show instead of the tanned and toned men and woman who usually appear.

The 26-year-old said that despite liking current Love Island host Maya Jama, he’s not watched a series for over two years after previously being a big fan. He said: “I watched Love Island for a few years and then my ex went on it and then I have stopped watching it ever since.

“There’s a lady in the UK who presents it called Maya Jama, she’s really cool, I like her. My one just now is Love Is Blind. I’m huge on Love is Blind. This is the best one I’ve seen for sure.” But Lewis said he would enjoy it even more if not everyone on it was beautiful-looking.

Speaking on US radio, he added: “You want some ugly people on there. I want people to be so let down. You know how they do the meeting. I want people to have to visibly go ‘Oh, for God’s (sake)”, and then make it up. You really want someone to come in who’s like....hmm, I’m going to stop there.”

Lewis and Turley, who won Love Island with Finley Tapp, were a couple in 2015 when they were 18-year-old students. He went on to base some lyrics on their relationship. Lewis is featuring in a major Netflix documentary which has charted his rise to fame. In How I’m Feeling Now, he talks openly about his mental health and Tourette’s diagnosis.
