Lewis Capaldi praised by fans despite making devastating announcement at Glastonbury

Lewis Capaldi delivered devastating news to fans while appearing on stage at Glastonbury on Saturday night.

The West Lothian singer and fan-favourite was branded an inspiration after suggesting he may not be supplying fans with any new music for a while as he is taking a break.

Following the release of his first album in 2019 the talented singer-songwriter took an extended break while focusing on new music for fans, but it looks like we may have seen the last of Lewis until 2024.

Appearing on the Pyramid Stage and apologising to the crowd as he was struggling with his voice, the 26-year-old admitted he was getting frustrated with himself, but was determined to see the set out.

As the Record reports, Lewis took time off before the festival to focus on his mental health and told fans on Saturday that he is planning on taking another break following the performance.

"Look I'm really sorry before we go any further, because this is a pain in the arse," he said.

"You've all come out and I'm apologising that my voice is f***ing packing in. Glastonbury I'm really sorry, I'm a bit annoyed with myself here.

"I recently took three weeks off, just because I've been non-stop since the start of the year and wanted a break for my head and my mental health. I wanted to come back and do Glastonbury because it's so incredible and I just want to thank you all for coming out.

"I was s**t scared but you really made me feel at ease. I'm really sorry, I hope they will let me back on even though it's been a sh**show.

"I feel like I'll be taking another break over the next few weeks so you probably won't see me for the rest of the year. But when I do come back and I do see you I hope you're up for watching."

However, as fans sang his songs back to him and after whipping his shirt off in keeping up with his typical cheeky sense of humour, those watching at home took to social media to heap praise on the singer.

One penned: "How brave is Lewis Capaldi? His ticks are severe but he perseveres and entertains a massive crowd. It's clearly hard for him. He's inspiring. #Glastonbury."

Another wrote: "That was one of the all time greatest #Glastonbury moments. Lewis Capaldi and that crowd just did more for mental health in an hour than the Tories have done in 12 years. Incredible."

"Absolutely heartbreaking to see Lewis Capaldi so broken. Put in a fantastic performance but he feels he's f***** it. Mental health can be horrific. #Glastonbury," a third added.
