Lewis Capaldi left red faced as his mum tells him off over one night stand

Lewis Capaldi was left red faced when his own mum gave him a telling off over a one night stand.

This week a trailer dropped for the 26-year-old musician’s upcoming Netflix documentary special titled Lewis Capaldi: How I'm Feeling Now.

The one and a half hour film will show Leiws exploring his struggles with anxiety and mental health which he says have intensified as he has become more successful.

Billed in the trailer as ‘an intimate portrait of an unlikely superstar’, the film directed by BAFTA nominee Joe Pearlman will see Lewis and those closest to him opening up on camera.

And among those speaking on tape is the star’s mother, Carole, who leaves the star blushing as she explains his anxiety has resulted in him calling her at unexpected moments.

She is seen sat beside Lewis in the trailer declaring: “You’ve still got a lot of growing up to do.

"You need to phone your mother to come and pick you up from your one-night stand because you’re having a panic attack.”

Looking mortified, Lewis then blurts: “That’s not a story that needs to be told.”

The footage then cuts to show Lewis and his mum seemingly enjoying a quiet moment where the singer admits: “I’m glad you brought that up”.

While the documentary looks set to include lots of light hearted moments, it will also seemingly include lots of harder moments that the singer has faced.

His mum is even heard questioning if he should continue in his career after, Lewis admits, he is finding he is becoming less confident the more famous he gets.

His mum says to the camera: “He’s not just the comedian we all think he is… Every time he played a gig, it was a struggle.”

She is heard stating: “Is it all worth it, making you feel like this?”

Back in 2019, Lewis opened up about his battles with anxiety.

He told Substream Magazine at the time: “ I do love being on tour. I don’t really get anxiety when I’m up on stage, it’s like at various points and random times I’ll get [anxiety].

“It’s not really brought on by playing live- I’ve only had a panic attack on stage once, and that was when I was on tour and I thought I had appendicitis, and I started having this pain while I was singing and I was like ‘Woah, what is that?!’, but there was nothing wrong with me. It was ridiculous.

“So my anxiety stems from health and stuff like that and I’ve always had it from a young boy— but I didn’t know I had this anxiety.

“I was [always] a hypochondriac because my dad had it as well, and I think that’s where I got it from.”

Lewis Capaldi: How I’m Feeling Now will be available to stream on Netflix from Wednesday 5 April 2023.
