Lewis Capaldi leaves Naga Munchetty shocked with X-rated comment on BBC Breakfast

Lewis Capaldi caused some flustered faces on BBC Breakfast after making a comment that wasn't quite suited for Saturday morning TV.

The 25-year-old Glaswegian singer appeared live on the show to chat with hosts Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty about his new single Forget Me - which earned the star his third number one in the charts last week, following on from the success of his hits Someone You Loved and Before You Go. But the attention shifted away from his tunes after the conversation unintentionally turned X-rated.

As the interview wrapped up, Lewis couldn't help but pay Charlie a compliment. "Can I just say, you've got great hair," he said to the presenter - at which point things quickly started to unravel.

Charlie returned the compliment and the pair shared a somewhat awkward high-five, something which Charlie said "very rarely happens". Taking note of the budding bromance, Naga then asked them both: "Would you like a room?"

An alarmed Lewis asked the presenter to repeat herself, after which he laughed in relief and said to her: "I thought you said a rim".

Crew members could be heard giggling behind the cameras as Naga looked shocked, briefly covering her face in embarrassment before quickly bringing the interview to a close. "Uh, the time now - we're coming up to nine o'clock," the host announced, her voice wavering as she struggled not to laugh.

"Lewis Capaldi's new single Forget Me is out now," Naga continued as Lewis and Charlie continued to laugh and the singer apologised off-screen. "We're going to have a little word with Lewis - the headlines are coming up".

The singer shared the hilarious clip with his Twitter followers, along with the caption: "A classic breakdown of communication". The video has racked up more than two million views on the social media platform, with fans left amused by the misunderstanding.

"That's brightened up my Saturday morning," one person wrote after watching the clip, while another joked: "This is why ye dinnae let Scottish folk oan the telly".

Others branded Lewis a "national treasure" and an "absolute lad" after the comment. Radio presenter David Vitty said: "This is one of my favourite moments in British television".
