Lewis Capaldi was forced to halt his performance in Manchester last night after a fight broke out in the crowd.
The West Lothian singer temporarily stopped playing after a commotion erupted at the AO Arena on Wednesday night. Lewis, 26, was in the middle of performing his hit song Hold Me While You Wait when he noticed a fight break out in the crowd and stopped mid-tune.
The Scots singing sensation quickly held his hands up to his band while the lights in the venue came on to allow security to do their job and get them out. Lewis hilariously noted it was a "bizarre" song for a fight to break out during.
Lewis was heard saying: "They are scrapping in the crowd there. Erm, we are going to have to get them out."
Once the audience realised what had taken place, the crowd soon stopped singing along to the tune and booed the fighters. Once the issue had been resolved, Lewis, who is embarking on his sold-out UK tour, said: "We can't be fighting," before adding: "What a weird song to fight to. Bizarre, bizarre."
After the scuffle was sorted, the crowd began to excitedly chant: '"Oh Lewis Capaldi" before he started the song from the beginning again, much to the delight of the packed venue.
One fan who attended the gig later told the Manchester Evening News: "I couldn’t see the fight itself with the area being full, but Lewis Capaldi stopped the song and lit the area up in order for security to get to the fight.
"He started the song again after taking the mick out of them for fighting. He started saying it was daft how anyone could fight to that song."
Earlier in the year, the comical singer had to beg his fans to stop comparing him to people after he was mistaken for a number of older women, including Britain's Got Talent's Susan Boyle.
Lewis was left reeling after one fan made a comment about him following his appearance on the BBC on Hogmanay. The fan penned: "Lewis, my dad saw you on TV and thought you were Susan Boyle."
Lewis responded by sharing a video of himself shaking his head with the caption "great start to the new year". Playing on her hit song, Lewis replied: "I dreamed a dream that people stopped telling me I looked like women in their 60s."
Last year Lewis was compared to former Prime Minister Liz truss on Twitter as one fan wrote: "Congratulations @LewisCapaldi on becoming the next Prime minister #LizTruss," alongside an older photo of Truss from her campaigning days in the 1990s.
The West Lothian star penned in response: "Why do I look like so many female politicians."
