Levy and Paratici told Man United transfer plan Tottenham must follow amid Pochettino admission

Both Tottenham and Man United have had their struggles this season, with both sides changing manager during the campaign. Spurs are two points behind fourth placed Arsenal and United are now six points behind Mikel Arteta's side and have played an extra game in the race for a top-four place.

There is still a battle to secure Champions League football next season, with only a handful of games left to play. Once the season comes to an end, the transfer window will open and it is expected to be a busy one for both Tottenham and the Manchester side.

The prospect of Champions League football would provide a financial benefit and help attract top players to their clubs. Either way, both sides need incomings and outgoings to help improve their current squad.

For United this will be done under Erik ten Hag, who was last week appointed as the new Red Devils manager for next season. For Tottenham, after speculation this week over Antonio Conte's future in north London, there is growing hope that he will stay.

This has been boosted by Mauricio Pochettino's admission in his recent contract over his future in Paris Saint-Germain, which seemed doubtful, despite winning Ligue 1 title with his side. "That [the fact me and Mbappe are staying] is how I feel today," the former Spurs boss admitted.

"That is what I can say to you today. I can't say anything else. That is how I feel right now.

"This is football, and we never know what might happen. But I have to answer the question based on how I feel today. And this is what I have done," he added.

As the Argentine alludes to, anything can change in football. But for now it seems Pochettino will remain in France, which will give growing hope that Conte will remain in N17. The Italian has only been in the capital for six months and he has already made his plans clear.

"I am committed to this club for another year and the club wanted this type of situation. I accepted because it was good to know each other," Conte explained.

"After four months at the club, I think the club understood my way to work, I understood the club. At the end of the season, we will continue to improve this knowledge of each other and then to find the best solution for both."

It is all well and good the Italian staying at Spurs, especially with the improvements he has already been able to make. But if he isn't going to get the backing required in the summer transfer window, bringing a world class manager in like Conte will seem pointless.

With the 52-year-old now the manager, Daniel Levy may have to change some of his transfer strategies and Ralf Rangnick's Man United plan could be one to follow. "I don't know what has or hasn't been the case in the past, how much influence the former managers had on recruitment. I can only tell you what I'm used to in Europe or in Germany," the current Man United boss said this week.

"And as you know, in almost all clubs there is a sporting director who together with the manager or with the head coach and the scouting department is responsible for which players will be coming. For example, in my last two clubs, we never signed a player without the approval of the manager.

"I'm pretty sure this will also be the case here with Erik. I'm also positive that Erik will make some suggestions and then together with the board, together with the scouting department and possibly myself, we will then decide on the right players," Rangnick added.

The input of a manager should always be of utmost importance during a transfer window, but even more so for Tottenham this summer. Whether the Lilywhites secure a spot in the top four or not, they have brought Conte in to help them get to the next level.

The only way they are going to be able to do this is with some good transfer business. Not bringing players in just because they are big names, but spending money on a player who could be the perfect fit in a Spurs side.

Levy must provide the money required by Fabio Paratici, who then needs to work with Conte to bring in the most suitable players possible. This has already seen some success, with Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur being signed on the final day of the January transfer window and this will need to be repeated and improved upon when the summer window opens in June.
