It wasn't just the meek surrender at Old Trafford which left Chelsea fans angered on Thursday night.
The Blues kicked off against Man United on the back of a torrid run of just one win in 10 Premier League games, and their form was compounded as they were hammered 4-1 by Erik ten Hag's side. But whilst interim manager Frank Lampard and his players appeared despondent afterwards, one current star on Chelsea's books was unperturbed.
Centre back Levi Colwill, who came through the academy system at Stamford Bridge, has spent the 2022/23 campaign on loan at Brighton. And the 20-year-old has made 16 appearances for the Seagulls, helping them secure a sixth placed finish and Europa League football.
The England under 21 international is expected to return to Stamford Bridge in the summer and challenge for a place in the first team. However, he may have some appeasing to do after his social media post in the aftermath of the United debacle.
Brighton writer and podcaster Ryan Adset sent a tweet to the defender asking: “Hey mate, how’s your evening going?” Colwill, who has previously been likened to a young John Terry, replied with a photo of him and former Chelsea player Billy Gilmour, also now at Brighton, on a night out with the caption: “Brilliant.”
The reply didn't go down well amongst the Blues faithful, with the @FutbolCheIsea writing: "I think that’s a poor tweet from Levi Colwill. Disrespectful and unprofessional to the club that has nurtured him from a young age and helped him become the player that he is."

@ARKV99, somewhat questionably, argued: "This guy @levi_colwill is a bigger disgrace and embarrassment to Chelsea than any of the players on the pitch tonight," while @idiotichelsea added: "This has actually upset me i was really excited to see you at Chelsea. Why man, why."
@londonbluenews however, appealed for calm and defended Colwill: "So many over reactions. He’s on a night out celebrating with Brighton for Europa League. Maybe he could’ve had a bit more self-awareness, but it’s not intentional."
Colwill has been at Chelsea since he was nine-years-old, but is yet to make a senior appearance for the London club. he spent the 2020/21 campaign on loan at Huddersfield Town, but after impressing in defence as he helped them to the Championship play-off final, scored an own goal at Wembley as the Terriers were beaten 1-0 by Nottingham Forest.
