‘Let someone else speak!’: Roy Keane and Graeme Souness on-air spat over Argentina penalty in full

Roy Keane and Graeme Souness were this morning involved in a feisty on-air spat during ITV's World Cup coverage.

Discussing the award of an Argentina penalty, Souness insisted the call was legitimate given the new directive given to referees ahead of the tournament regarding holding in the area.

Souness wasn't having it, though, insisting it only proves to encourage diving, much to Souness' annoyance as the pair argued over facts and opinion.

ITV presenter Laura Woods started by asking Souness if the penalty should have been awarded.

Here is the back and forth in full...

Graeme Souness: "Definitely! He doesn't know where the ball is, he's only interested in the Argentine player, he's not looking. That's a penalty, for me."

Roy Keane: "No, no, no, all this will do is encourage diving."

GS: "Roy, you're not listening to what Laura has said, it's a directive from the referee."

RK: "I listened to exactly what she said, yeah."

GS: "This is not about opinion, that's a fact. The guy wasn't looking."

RK: "I'm here to give an opinion, that's not a pen."

GS: "This is not about our opinions, it's about the laws of the game."

RK: "Why am I here then? To give my opinion. That's not a penalty."

GS: "The new law is..."

RK: "That's not a penalty. I'm here to give my opinion, and that's not a penalty in my eyes."

GS: "I've heard you say that 10 times, do you want to say that again? Do you want to let someoene else speak? You'll learn a lot more if you listen."

RK: "Go ahead. Thank you for your time, no problem."

Let’s hope they settle their differences come full-time.
