Newcastle United's Kieran Trippier has been named at right-back for England's World Cup opener against Iran this afternoon.
With Kyle Walker missing the group B opener, Trippier has been given the nod over Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The Newcastle full-back had been the form defender heading into the tournament, and has seen his strong performances of late rewarded by England boss Gareth Southgate.

While Newcastle supporters will be paying keen attention to how Trippier gets on during the contest, they will also be interested to see whether or not striker Callum Wilson gets a chance to shine off the bench.
