Leroy Sane was amongst the first to congratulate former club Manchester City after they won the Champions League for the first time.
The German, who left the club after four years in the summer of 2020, was part of a number of City sides under Pep Guardiola who had struggled to translate their domestic dominance into European success.
Sane formed part of the Bayern Munich team City blitzed at the quarter-final stage to lay down a marker in the competition months before they beat Inter Milan in Istanbul.
“Congrats @ManCity on the triple! Well-deserved this season,” tweeted the 27-year-old.
While City were far from their best against their Italian counterparts, Rodri’s second-half goal was enough to see them win the one trophy to have eluded them thus far.
Ederson recovered from a shaky start to produce two stunning saves during the dying embers of the game to ensure it did not go to extra-time.
On the full-time whistle, a slightly subpar performance mattered little as emotional City players celebrated an historic treble.
