Former Everton star Leon Osman believes Amadou Onana will have learnt a lot in his debut against Aston Villa.
Onana's brief but all-action cameo at Villa Park featured the 21 year-old making an error that led to Villa’s second goal to him then being the catalyst for Everton’s late fight back that proved in vain.
And Osman thinks the young midfielder’s 15-minute appearance will have done him the world of good going into tomorrow's home clash with Nottingham Forest.

Osman said: “In that short space he showed some incredible moments. Yes, he was caught on the ball in midfield, which Aston Villa then went away and scored, but those moments can help you learn very quickly and bring you awareness of the new league you’re stepping into."
After forcing Everton back into last weekend's clash thanks to an eye-catching run into the Villa box, which resulted in a Lucas Digne own goal, Onana almost levelled matters with a last-minute chance.
And Osman believes the Toffees could have a special player on their hands and was full of praise for Onana’s attacking ability.
He said: “When he got to the top end of the field, his power, pace and skill and making the pass was outstanding. It was a short spell so it’s tough to judge but there were some really positive glimpses. And I think that’s the case for the first two games for Everton.”
Osman, who is appearing at Formby Golf Club next week for the Legends Tour, thinks the Toffees are finally showing some muscle in the transfer market and are due an upturn in fortune with their first three points of the season not far off.
He said: “It’s not easy playing without a striker when you’re trying to fill the gaps but I felt we’ve looked organised, steady and we’re now being linked with players and we’re bringing players in who do look exciting so I think that first win is around the corner.”
