Leon King update provided by Rangers after defender stretchered off with worrying head knock

Rangers have provided an injury update on Leon King after his injury against St Mirren on Saturday,

The teenage defender started once again for boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst in the 1-1 draw that leaves them nine points off the top of the Premiership behind Celtic. There were worrying scenes at the start of the second half though as a lengthy delay occurred when King went down under a challenge, stretchered off the field.

After a hospital admission, Rangers have said he is now back at home in a reassuring update for supporters after worrying scenes for one of their academy products. They said: "Leon King suffered a concussion in the second half of yesterday’s match, and was taken to hospital for assessment. Leon was discharged from hospital late yesterday afternoon with advice. Today, Leon is sore but well. He will now rest completely and follow a graded return to play under the supervision of the medical team."

Boss David McCallum told club media: "It was a really strong first half, we really wanted the players to go out and enjoy today’s game and have that feeling of being obsessed and have an impact in an attacking sense.

"Having lost a goal late on in the game was probably the only frustration from the match, but I thought our goals were excellent. I’m really pleased."
