CONNOR GOLDSON has become one of the rocks that Rangers have been built on during his four years of fine service at Ibrox.
And youngster Leon King reckons his defensive inspiration will help him lay the foundations for his own successful career in Light Blue.
King will be part of Giovanni van Bronckhorst's squad this term after rising through the ranks and earning his place in the group that will challenge at home and abroad in the coming months.
In Goldson, the stopper has the ideal mentor to look up to and learn from. Thankfully for King, that process will continue for years to come after Goldson committed himself to Ibrox once again this summer.
King said: “It’s massive to have someone like Connor in the club still.
“He’s been a rock in the team for the last few years now so it’s something that I aspire to be in a few years time.
“He plays in the position I want to be in so I want to follow that. You see how pivotal he is for the team and I want that in a few years time.
“He’s really good with the young lads. It can be nervous coming into that first team environment for a young lad but they all make you feel at ease.
“I would say especially Connor from my point of view because we play in the same position and he’s pretty much taken me under his wing and he’s always trying to help me.
"It could [be one of the best deals the club does]. Especially with how pivotal and big he has been for the club in the last few seasons.
"It was amazing to see him sign on again. And it attracts bigger players to come to the club, which is only going to make you better when you are training with them every day."
