Leon Balogun issues QPR farewell message as potential Rangers return talk escalates

Leon Balogun has posted his farewell to QPR as talk over a Rangers return escalate.

The 35-year-old was gutted to leave the Light Blues when his contract expired but was offered a move south of the border to the English Championship. He featured just 16 times for the R's last season netting one goal in the process.

Reports overnight have claimed he could be set for a stunning return to Ibrox on a one-year deal as Michael Beale seeks defensive cover after learning youngster Leon King will be out for a 'significant period of time' after suffering a pre-season injury during the Germany camp. Rangers had injury issues in the backline last season with both Connor Goldson and Ben Davies spending time on the sidelines across the campaign.

Dujon Sterling is in the door this summer and will provide extra cover while Balogun could be set for an emotional return north of the border. He's taken to social media this morning to say his farewells to QPR as he wished them all the very best for the future.

He wrote on Instagram: "Thank you to everyone at @officialqpr - the staff, the players and you the supporters.

"Despite everything that has happened throughout this very difficult season, I've really enjoyed my time at the club.

"I'm wishing you nothing but the best for the future you Rsss."

Kieran Dowell, Jack Butland, Abdallah Sima, Sam Lammers, Cyriel Dessers and Sterling have all put pen to paper with the Ibrox side so far this summer. Balogun could be addition number seven as Beale bids to end Celtic's domestic dominance and qualify for the Champions League once again.
