Leo Varadkar has begun self-isolating after receiving a positive result on a Covid-19 antigen test.
The Tanaiste has been forced to cancel a number of engagements he was due to undertake as a result, including an appearance in Cork this morning.
Mr Varadkar tested negative for Covid yesterday in Brussels.
A spokesman for Mr Varadkar said: "The Tanaiste is self-isolating due to a positive antigen test.
"He had tested negative yesterday in Brussels.
"He has some mild intermittent symptoms but is otherwise well and intends to carry out any functions that he can virtually."
They explained that the Tanaiste plans to carry out any functions he can virtually.
Earlier this week, Justice Minister Helen McEntee tested positive for Covid-19, while Health Minister Stephen Donnelly was isolating having shown flu-like symptoms.
Micheal Martin also tested positive while in the US before St Patrick's Day.
