Leny Yoro hailed the Manchester United fans after an “incredible” first appearance for the club.
The 18-year-old completed his £52million move from Lille earlier this week and Erik ten Hag wasted little time in bringing the new signing straight into the team.
Yoro started at centre-back alongside Jonny Evans as United faced Rangers at Murrayfield in their second pre-season friendly, winning 2-0 through goals from Amad Diallo and Joe Hugill.
It was a confident first performance in a United shirt from Yoro, before he was replaced at half-time as Ten Hag made ten changes, and the Frenchman paid tribute to the travelling support in Edinburgh.
“For me it was not at Rangers stadium but Manchester United stadium,” Yoro told MUTV.
“The fans are everywhere, they are really good with us. Of course they were here for me, it was really important, so thank you to the fans, hope to see you soon at Old Trafford.”
With Raphael Varane leaving the club, Lisandro Martinez on holiday after his involvement at the Copa America and Harry Maguire not yet at full fitness, Yoro’s availability is a big boost for United, particularly as they now look ahead to a USA tour and matches against Arsenal, Real Betis and Liverpool.
The teenager is likely to play a significant role in those fixtures, as he revealed he has already been made to feel at home in his new surroundings.
"It was incredible,” Yoro said.
“Good game from the team, I was happy with my performance. I hope we continue like that.
“The team-mates helped me a lot, the staff made me comfortable. On the pitch we are together, so for me it is very good.”
