Lenco PA 260 review: Powerful multipurpose speaker that will light up any occasion

Lenco is known for its massive roster of unique turntables, aimed to match the competition’s tech at a competitive price.

Now the Dutch audio company is expanding its catalogue of products and has announced a new range of speakers and karaoke sets. Lenco’s new speakers look like they are aimed at a music enthusiast looking to throw a party or host events.

This new range of speakers comes in different shapes and sizes with a plethora of features to make them stand out.

One of their flagship products is the Lenco PA-260 which is a party speaker with karaoke features.

These have really become popular over the last few years with the likes of Sony and JBL also releasing similar products.

The PA-260 is a huge speaker measuring about 79 cm high and 30 cm wide, it really is a hefty piece of kit.

But this is great as it allows the front speakers to be fitted with huge LED lights.

Its front curved exterior is sleek, making it look less bulky than its measurement would let you believe.

The top of the speaker is home to the buttons which are easy to access.

But what really makes the PA-260 stand out is the disco ball on the top, it may seem like a small inclusion, but this feature really elevates the party experience that it can provide.

There is also a holder for the user’s mobile phone which is another nice design feature.

The PA-260 comes complete with a handle and wheels for easy transportation, which believe it or not isn’t always a standard feature for these devices.

The PA-260 isn’t an elegant-looking product but it doesn’t have to be. I feel like the scale allows for the big LED lights to really be on show, filling up the entire front space as opposed to just illuminating around the speaker cones.

It’s made from a very tough plastic that feels very durable and robust meaning it will be able to take a few knocks while being transported.

Lenco says it weighs about 11.43 kilogram but it feels slightly heavier so might not be the best for constant transportation.

The PA-260 is a powerful piece of kit with the ability to pump out 150W RMS with a max of 166W. This is great as most speakers in this price range will probably only be hitting up to at least 100w.

The audio was crystal clear with a fantastic bass that complements the size of the speakers.

The speakers don’t come with an app to select presets, however, the remote control will allow owners to play with the bass, treble and echo functions which are easy to use.

Although I only heard a massive difference when tweaking the bass and echo settings.

There is also a setting for extra bass called X Bass, and while there was a noticeable difference it wasn’t enough to warrant the extra feature, there was more of an impact when I changed it manually.

But overall the speakers provide a pleasant but impactful audio experience that will really impress during parties and events.

The PA-260 has a slew of input features with the most noticeable being that owners can link their phones via BlueTooth which was simple to set up out of the box.

Another nice feature is the addition of FM radio, which can be used when there isn’t an external audio source. It may just be FM and not DAB but it’s just great to see another source for music at this price point.

On top of that, the speakers also include a USB slot, a line input and even a guitar input socket.

This range of input devices really opens up the possibilities to how the speakers can be used with the guitar being an amazing inclusion that will be a great addition during karaoke.

The PA-260 also includes two wireless microphones which can be used for karaoke.

However I did experience a lot of feedback noise when using them and it really didn’t matter where I positioned the speaker, which was frustrating.

One of the big selling points is the LED lights which are synchronised to work in line with the beat.

There is a vast array of colours and patterns on offer but there isn’t any form of customisation. The speaker only allows owners to pick from four different presets which are fun but can be a tad repetitive over long use.

But in terms of power and intensity, they are some of the best-LED lights I have seen on a speaker and will definitely add a splash of colour to your party.

The PA-260 will last for up to twelve hours and six with the LED lights on. This is pretty standard given the price point and it is great to see that Lenco still provides ample battery life with the speakers turned on.

Verdict 4/5

Lenco’s PA-260 are great speakers that will light up any party and include features that make them a strong competitor in this growing party speaker space.

The numerous inputs and inclusion of two wireless microphones are a huge bonus.

But they are lacking an app that could help with some extra customisation that audiophiles and music enthusiasts have become accustomed to for the audio and the LED lights.

The Lenco - PA-260 is out now for £269.99 on the Lenco website
